Being truthful with ourselves

Sep 1, 2014 3:58:00 PM / by Vu Long Tran

Sometimes we do things that we may not realise we are doing for others than for ourselves.

The other day, I came across this nice quote that made me think about how we can often realise that while it is important to understand and knowing others, and it is knowing ourselves which can often be more important.

‘He who knows others and things has knowledge: He who knows himself is wise” - Lao Tzu

Basically, we can focus so much on what others are doing and not so much ourselves. We can often try copy others and to try do what they do, think like they do, but at times that may not be what we want to do and what we believe.

At the end of the day, we need to ask ourselves whether we are being truthful with ourselves.

We have to realise that sometimes there are goals we will only be able to achieve in timeSo we have the courage to allow ourselves to be seen even if it means we are vulnerable. To do so allows us to have compassion to connect with ourselves and others.

There's more interesting thoughts on vulnerability which you can read more about on my post on vulnerability from a great TED talk.
